The Term 1 Sporting season has set an impressive foundation for 2021 and we are extremely excited about the direction of the program.

As part of the GBC competition, students had the opportunity to play Girls Basketball, Boys Volleyball, and the newly introduced boys and girls AFL, which created a sense of real excitement within the community.

Our preparations for the season began in Term 4 2020 under the guidance of our experienced coaches and the additional training time paid dividends. Over the course of this term, it was wonderful to see the high level of commitment and resulting improvement we saw amongst students.

Looking at the AFL season, it is clear to see that footy is back at Sheldon College. Under the guidance of our coaches, the game has seen a resurgence within the College, with especially impressive participation in our female program.

The ever-improving Volleyball program took another step in the right direction this term, with both Senior and Intermediate teams playing in Division 1 for Queensland Volleyball Schools Cup for the first time.

Our dominant Girls Basketball program continued to be exactly that, dominant. The girls claimed four out of the five premierships and easily ran away with the GBC Basketball Aggregate trophy.

The true highlight of the season, however, was the GBC Finals day, held here at Sheldon College. The turnout of students supporting our teams was impressive and indicative that the sporting culture at Sheldon College is well and truly alive.

A huge thank you to all of the coaches, students and parents for their efforts in making Term 1 GBC Sport such a success. We can’t wait to see what the students achieve in Term 2!
