For the fourth consecutive year, Sheldon College has been named Education Perfect’s Top Chinese Language School in Queensland at the Annual Education Perfect Language Championships.

For a week in March, students in Years 5 – 12 put their Chinese language skills to the test, devoting 453 cumulative hours to answer more than 260,000 language related questions. This again places Sheldon College in the top spot for Chinese language learning in Queensland.

Nationally, the College placed 4th in Australia from 753 participating schools and 1st in Queensland from 174 schools. We are extremely proud of the high level of commitment that so many of our students show in relation to their Chinese language studies.

Congratulations to the 26 students who earned themselves an award through their participation in the competition. Special mention goes to Year 7 students, Maddison Sturgess and Samantha Seager who received an Elite Award. In order for students to reach the Elite level, they were required to earn more than 10,000 points in the time allocated. Maddison and Samantha, who placed 212th and 213th globally amongst over 200,000 participants will be granted a cash prize provided by QUT’s Confucius Institute in recognition of their hard work and dedication.

Chinese teacher, Ms Clara Liu is most proud of her students. “Their commitment to language learning is impressive. I am so proud of my students for their commitment, dedication and persistence to achieve such great results.”

Well done to all students who participated in the Education Perfect Language Championships!
