The best-selling author of "Being 14" and "Fathers and Daughters" sat down for an evening with Sheldon College parents to discuss what our girls need us to know about their shift from child to teenager - how they feel, what they think, what worries them and what we can do to help.

Parents were introduced to Madonna King’s latest publication, “Ten-Ager”, in which she examines the counsel of over five-hundred 10-year-old girls, 1600 mothers and 100 Year Five school teachers. Dozens of school principals, teen psychologists, doctors, researchers and female role models were also interviewed to provide a guide for parents helping tween daughters into adolescence.

This research was unpacked with an easy to understand and highly relatable approach during which parents were offered insights, tips and real-life strategies to help support their daughters as they progress through adolescence.

Knowledge and strategies are so helpful when navigating such tricky territory. Sometimes though, it’s simply refreshing to know that we’re all in this together!
