A select group of senior students recently represented Sheldon College in the Queensland Senior Volleyball Schools Cup, a three-day tournament that brings together the best schools across the state.

This competition is the pinnacle event of the Sheldon Volleyball Program, requiring the students to undertake an intense training schedule in the lead up to the tournament.

For the first time in Sheldon’s history an Open Boys’ team has competed in Division 1, ensuring a tough weekend ahead. Despite the intense competition, the boys performed well, winning four of their six games to finish 5th overall in the competition. What a commendable achievement, the best result of any Sheldon Boys’ Volleyball team in the history of the College.

The Open Girls team were entered into second Division where they blazed a path through the tournament. The students played like champions, remaining undefeated throughout the tournament - in fact, only ever dropping one set! Not only was Sabrina Lawson named MVP of the tournament, but the girls’ fantastic performance awarded them a well-deserved gold medal, the first won by an Open Girls team in Sheldon College history. This medal marks the third gold medal won by a Sheldon Volleyball team in the past 12 months, equalling our cumulative gold medals won across the past 10 years.

Congratulations students, we are so proud of your commitment to the program. Thanks also, must go to the Coaches, Managers and Parents for their support. We cannot wait to see what this fantastic Volleyball program has in store for the future!
