We are proud to say that our approach to Quality and Safety has been officially recognised and that Sheldon College is one of only three College’s in Australia to be certified to the International Standard in Quality Assurance (ISO 9001: 2008) and the only College in Australia to be certified to the Australian/New Zealand Standard in OHS (AS/NZS 4801:2001).
Sheldon College's Quality Management System is a formalised system that documents processes, procedures, and responsibilities for achieving quality policies and objectives. It has four main components: quality planning, quality assurance, quality control and quality improvement and is focused not only on product and service quality, but also on the means to achieve it. Our Quality Management System helps coordinate and direct our College’s activities to meet customer and regulatory requirements and improve our effectiveness and efficiency on a continuous basis.
At Sheldon College we have a responsibility to provide a safe environment for all students, staff and visitors while undertaking College activities both on campus and off campus. The purpose of our OHS Management System is to systematically reduce the possibility of accidents, illness, injuries or fatalities in the workplace by ensuring that hazards in the workplace are eliminated or controlled in a systematic manner.
The benefits for Sheldon College using an OHS Management System include:
- Meeting ‘due diligence’ requirements through a health and safety system that helps demonstrate that management is effectively meeting its legal responsibilities.
- A systematic approach that ensures consultation occurs between PCBU’s and other stakeholders to manage health and safety concerns before they become problems.
- Systems that can be internally or externally audited and monitored to provide verification that health and safety performance is meeting expectations. Any gaps in the system can be quickly identified and corrected.
- Delivering long term cost efficiencies by avoiding workplace injuries and illnesses and reducing the cost impact on the business.
