    The journey begins
    1997

    "Sheldon College had its beginnings around our kitchen table. In those early days, the school existed in the boots of our cars. Every Sunday afternoon, we set up our school at The Pine Lodge Equestrian Centre and every Friday afternoon we packed it up, so that weddings & functions could take place at Pine Lodge at the weekends." Dr Lyn Bishop

    • First overseas Ski Trip for the Year 12’s to New Zealand
    • James Morrison holds a workshop and a concert at the College

    • Year 12 ‘Origin’ Students graduate this year - those students who have completed their full schooling at Sheldon College
    • Tony O’Brien Cup is donated by much loved former teacher (for future Teacher v Student Games)

    • Sheldon College purchases two additional parcels of land to the north of the campus for future growth
    • The Old School House finally comes to rest at Gate 4
    • Sheldon College forms a strategic partnership with Triathlon Australia
    • 8 College students compete at the International Space Design Competition at NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration)
    • The first Year 12 Graduates from 2002 gather for a 10-year reunion celebration

    • Construction commences on a 21st Century learning facility dedicated to Business, Entrepreneurship, Film & Television and Design & Digital Technologies
    • Cafeteria and the surrounding area is refurbished and officially named Cafe ‘97
    • 19 students, 2 teachers and business mentors visit China and Hong Kong to experience the culture, history and business
    • First Year 4 camp takes place at Kindilan for an overnight stay
    • Inaugural Alumni Advisory Board meeting and dinner

    • A competition is held to name the 21st Century Learning Centre
    • The new Learn to Swim Facilities open
    • Mr Bruce Rowland, composer of “The Man from Snowy River” movie soundtrack, visits the College for our ‘Night at the Movies’ event
    • Our Middle College & Senior College Percussion Ensembles compete against top schools from other states and take out several of the top awards at the Australian Percussion Eisteddfod

    Learning and Innovation for a New Queensland

    • The Governor General of Australia, Sir Peter Cosgrove, opens the newly completed LINQ Precinct
    • The College enters into a partnership with Gold Coast based flight school, Australian Wings Academy
    • The Special Guest at the ‘Night at the Movies’ is Nicholas Hammond, who played Friedrich von Trapp in 'The Sound of Music". This year marks the 50th anniversary of the movie
    • The College grounds landscaping is completed with a new waterfall
